Interview with Lee Sbo Radebe.

LEE SBO RADEBE.
• Who is Lee?
Born Lindiwe Sbongile Radebe, is the only girl child of two children. I have an older brother, Skhumbuzo, who is six years older than me. I was born in Benoni Boksburg Hospital some 20 odd years ago. I grew up in Daveyton, eTwatwa under my gandparents roof and that meant that I was raised by everyone in the household i.e. my uncle, aunts, mom, every each and one of them played a peculiar role in shaping the person I am today. Because I grew up with my cousins, I had the perks of having them as friends, tutors and playmates. Furthermore I am a student, an activist, good friend (I hope), daughter and most of all a child of God among many others.

• You are young, beautiful and grounded. What makes you so grounded when your peers are not so at all?
Wow am I really?? lol uhmm well I have to acknowledge the presence of  God first, that man has been a father and more to me. Ever heard of those ideologies that young women who grow up without a father figure tend to turn to older man for comfort and that "unfounded" love well I'm the living proof that it’s not  true! I believe the word of God when it says in Mathew 5:5 "Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth.”.  Secondly the family he gave me, in particular my mom and my queen (my grandmother) those women have shown what it means to be a "woman of God' and that in all situations I should be still, quiet…then PRAY.

LEE AND HER GRANDMOTHER...HER INSPIRATION.

I believe that has set me apart from my peers because I knew from an early age that if things don't go your way you have to pray. And when you don't have, you gotta accept it because it’s a "season", smile due to the little you have and also share no matter how small it is. I don't let situations or different environments change me. Those are all things she taught me and is still teaching me today and trust me they working for me. She has propelled me to be so humble and grounded.

• You are quite involved at church, what motivates you or inspires you to be so dedicated?
I believe my character and personality doesn't allow me to just do nothing when I know I have the potential to do. Same with church, when I was given the opportunity to be part of the youth committee, I think it was at the right time because I have so much to share, so many ideas.

Dr. DS Gumbi & LEE.
I'm a dreamer and I believe like Joseph I have the power to think and implement and to bring valid ideas that will "enrich" the Kingdom in many ways. Ideas that would inspire the youth and make them see that God rewards those who are true to him.  And also, you do get to eat the fruits of your labor at the right season.
I'm inspired by my pastor. He gives a lot to the congregation and to us as individuals even when he has so much to lose himself.

• You say your best friend is a guy, how has this come to be?
Lol yah neh I met him Tebogo at church in 2009. I had seen him before but hadn't spoken to him until a mutual friend introduced us to each other because we were both doing physics in matric that year. According to many, a guy and girl can't be just "friends" but again we have broken the norms of society and as they say the rest is history...
 LEE with friends.
• How has your family reacted to it or were you born a tomboy like myself?
My mom knows I don't have many friends and yeah I was tomboy so it normal I guess. She used to ask me a lot about this Tebogo guy I was always on about. I'm certain there is a time she thought something was on and she asked me. I told her we just friends and she left it there because we have a very strong trust relationship. My grandmother just loves Tebogo and my other guy friends who also happen to be born-again
• Please share on your best friend.
Tebogo Mampuru is the craziest, God loving and ambitious young person I've met so far. He really doesn't conform to the worldly standards of being thee normal  and  reserved born again "brother". He goes against every norm of that. He is outgoing, friendly and talks more than I do. He is a student at Wits University studying Mechanical Engineering.
 TEBOGO & LEE.

• We know with girls as best friends there are happy moments, envy moments and so on. Do you have that in your friendship?
Yeah we do ,well maybe I'm the one who does ,that dude is CRAZY and he can be crazy anywhere,  anytime, especially around strangers and that means he has fun all the time and gets to know people quite easily and quickly!!! So I wish I could let loose a little myself without being conscious of what people will say or thinking that I'm denting my image of this ''serious girl" people have perceived me to be.

• And how do you handle moments of conflict?
We fight all the time, for the tinniest little things. our mutual friends can't stand us when we together because apparently we become kids. We are so alike in a manner that we can't shout and we both bruise easily and we very unpunctual and we always work well together. But I have noticed that he is always the one who apologises first and tells me when I hurt his feelings or if I made him angry but it always lasts 2 minutes. I don't remember being angry at him for more than that.

• Are you a student?
Yeah that I am. I'm doing my second year in Bcom Accounting at University of Johannesburg and I love it as much as I hate it at times. But I was lucky enough to have God speak to me through a prophecy and re-assured me that I'm on the right track with my academics and that I will be tested but I should stand firm and know that he is there ,so I walk on the promises I guess even here at school. Even when it’s hard, giving up is not an option at all. Varsity life is nice and I enjoy every bit except when it comes to studying for exams and tests and yah when I am broke!

• If you had the power to, what change would you want to bring in South Africa?
I would want to bring wisdom, knowledge and change our fiscal Policy. People are really perishing due to lack of knowledge and those with knowledge think they have wisdom. So I wish we could be able to distinguish and then surely we will make informed decisions in life. And the fiscal policy I just think 28% is too much yoh! Don't ask I will have to get too much into economics now.

• Any advice for the ladies out there?
Be you in all situations. Know that you are very special, for you were called by God. Don't conform to the world but be transformed and trust me that transformation will transform those around you and you will the difference soon, you have the power because he lives in you and he is the 'GREAT I AM' surely you also GREAT!

What’s your motto?
It’s less of a motto but a favourite verse of mine Proverbs 16v9

"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."

What do people not know about Lee?
I'm crazy about nice, fast cars. I can’t help but turn my head when a nice fast or big car passes by. Next thing I’m on google checking out the engine capacity, the features and downloading the pictures. I just see myself in it.
Another thing is that I'm a huge sports lover. I do aerobics, play Volleyball and do boxing. I have also been taking part in various Marathons including Soweto Marathon for the past 5 years. I believe as much as we believe that God shall preserve our lives we also have to do something about it the objective should not be about the number of kilos one looses but more about staying fit and keeping the heart healthy no matter how big or small you are.

A huge thank you to Miss Lee for sharing her life with us. Hope we are all blessed and inspired by her interview.
